So earlier in the day, I decided to move some gauges around in the 79. And had to drop the dash pan. I found things. Awful things. There were duct taped non soldered connections. Daisy chained horseshits. Splices that wouldn't look out of place in a lobotomy theatre. I couldn't even.
And then I fuckin fixed the shit out of those things.
And made the best six minutes of footage you are liable to see all day (if you don't watch television or youtube, or haven't today). Time lapse and mexican music make EVERYTHING better.
Either way, I made this for you, Oppo. I hope you enjoy it.

For a second there (1 minute mark) I thought that you were gonna have some real fun and rewire everything with red wire! God, can you imagine what the next person to look under the dash would do?

I feel your pain. I ripped out the entire wiring harness of my Camaro and replaced it with one from American Autowire. The original one had been spliced and re-spliced so many times that there was just no way to salvage it. As a bonus I got to get rid of the external voltage regulator and go to one built in to the alternator.

Ah wiring, I curse the people who makes a spaghetti out of them, don't tie wrap them and just use electrical tape and don't soldier them. They could at least use a metal joint (don't know exactly how it's called in english) with a shrink tube...
